A false confirmation ships a parcel nobody wants

Each reply is sorted: confirm, cancel, tracking, sales, support or greeting.

The problem

Replies mix Darija, Arabizi and French, which breaks keyword bots, and a wrong “confirm” ships a parcel nobody wants.

What I built

A serverless service on Modal: a fast keyword path for most messages and a multilingual zero-shot model for the rest. A fine-tuning of the open-source DarijaBERT is prepared as the next step.

Technical details

Tells the Darija negation “la” apart from the French article
Model baked into the container image, one warm container
Fine-tuning pipeline prepared (stratified split, early stopping)

The result

When signals conflict, cancel wins over confirm, because a false refusal costs less than a false confirmation. The model is preloaded, removing a 15-second cold start.
